Welcome Cadre 12

I find myself a captain standing on the deck of a ship with far too many holes in her to float. Around me blows a storm of growing expectations and nearly unreachable goals. It’s my job to navigate these waters and deliver my 140 passengers to their destination. The hardest part is I have to deliver them whether they wish to be on the journey or not, and the sad truth is, most would prefer to jump overboard and drown. Some are weary from the previous six years of travel, some are terrified of failure, and some just have never known anyone to stay in the boat for the entire trip. They know of no one who has ever made it, ever, and thus can’t believe they can. We are faced daily with self defeating attitudes and diminished expectations because all of the years of feeling like failures have left my wards incorrectly believing they are failures.

So...

I have come to a place in my career, which requires an honest evaluation of my practices. It is necessary not only for my success but the success of my students, and ultimately of teachers and students to follow. I will, in the months to come, use this website to post my cycles of reflection and data, as well as invite critique and validation from colleagues willing to donate of their time (something I thank you for in advance.) It is my belief that through the focused lens of  Action Research and the collaborative learning to be undertaken by my students and myself, we will be able to add to the discussion on the state of learning and education in the world today.
